Hoshigaki Kisame is a prominent antagonist in the Naruto Shippuden anime and manga series.

Kisame first appears in the anime in episode 80 of Naruto Shippuden. He is a former ninja from Kirigakure (the Village Hidden in the Mist) and a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. Kisame defected from his village after being ordered to assassinate his superior, only to discover he was tasked with protecting a target leaking information. This discovery shattered his loyalty and led him down a dark path.

He is known for his immense chakra reserves and his signature weapon, Samehada, a sentient sword that absorbs chakra. Kisame becomes a member of the Akatsuki organization, partnered with Itachi Uchiha. His fighting style revolves around brute strength, water-based ninjutsu, and utilizing Samehada to drain his opponents' chakra. He is a powerful and formidable opponent throughout the series.
